God’s Free Salvation

God offers Salvation as a free gift – that’s Grace at work on an immense scale
By grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God (Ephesians 2:8)

You Face a Bleak Future

One day you will stand before God and answer for what you have or have not said and done in this life. Your situation is dire and your prospects look grim – unless, that is, you invite God into your situation.

God knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows all about our behaviour and attitudes, good and bad. God also knows that we are in a desperate state and we are utterly unable to help ourselves.

But God is Gracious

It is at this point that we should be thankful, even ecstatic that the God who created the universe and everything in it, including you and me is a gracious, loving and merciful God. If it were otherwise, we would be completely without hope of any kind.

Out of abounding love and pity for helpless humanity, God has acted to pay the penalty for sin on our behalf. It all happened when the Man known as Jesus Christ was born. Though most people thought him to be no more than a man – though a very good man – the truth is that he was non other than God the Son born into a human body.

Jesus Christ – God in the form of a man - lived a perfect life and was not therefore subject to judgement or punishment. Nevertheless, he suffered the punishment that is rightfully meted out to sinful men and women. He was beaten, crucified and even forsaken by God the Father in heaven. He did all of that for us!

Call it love, call it grace, call it mercy. You can call it anything you like but it is the most amazing news you could ever hear.

A Brand New Future

The outcome is two-fold:

  • First, Jesus bore the punishment rightfully directed at you and me
  • Second, Jesus is able to effectively scoop out all the rottenness at the heart of each one of us and fill the space himself.

Your sinful core is dealt with, your judgement and penalty are paid and you are made free to start living the way God always intended you to live.
